The people behind Sunlight Kids

Hi, we're the Clark family ☀️

An adventuring family of four. We've traveled to 20+ countries and most of the United States — and we did almost all of it with young kids and toddlers in tow. Every Sunlight Kids book and guide comes out of that real, on-the-ground experience.

How Sunlight Kids started

Lindsay is from West Virginia and Abe is from Washington. We met at BYU, married, and spent three and a half years in San Francisco before doing the thing most families only talk about: we packed up and traveled the world — Japan, Bali, Thailand, Singapore, Australia, the UAE, and all across Europe — with a toddler along for every flight, train, and rice terrace.

We know exactly what it feels like to be three hours into a flight, stuck at a restaurant table, or waiting out the witching hour in a hotel room, hunting for one more thing to keep little hands busy that isn't a screen. That's why Sunlight Kids exists. We make printable and printed activity books — coloring, tracing, counting, mazes, puzzles, and travel-themed packs — built for exactly those in-between moments.

We're not a faceless print shop. We're a mom and dad who test every activity on our own four-person crew first. If our kids won't sit still for it, it doesn't make the cut. Today we live on Kauai, where Lindsay teaches — and the shop grows right alongside our family's next adventure.

Where we've actually been

Our guides are written from first-hand experience, not a search engine. Here are the countries we've traveled through with kids in tow — every one of them documented, dated, and photographed on our family travel blog, weareclarks.com.

Meet the makers

Two people, two jobs: Lindsay designs and writes the books; Abe writes the travel guides. Both of us test everything on the same two kids.

Lindsay Clark, Child Development educator and Sunlight Kids author

Lindsay Clark

Educator & Sunlight Kids author

B.A. in Child Development · classroom & early-childhood educator · mom of two

Lindsay holds a bachelor's degree in Child Development (school-age emphasis) and has spent many years working and volunteering with children across a wide range of settings — hospitals, art classes, traditional classrooms, and the soccer field as a coach. As a mother of two, she brings both professional expertise and a deep personal understanding of how children grow, learn, and thrive.

She now teaches on Kauai at Earth School Hawaii, where she focuses on individualized curriculum, small-group learning, and building an environment where every child feels truly seen and supported. Lindsay designs and writes the Sunlight Kids activity books, and every activity is tested on real kids before it makes the cut.

Abe Clark

Co-founder & family-travel writer

Dad of two · traveled 20+ countries with young kids · founder of Sunlight Kids

Abe is the dad half of Sunlight Kids and the family's trip-planner-in-chief. Originally from Washington, he met Lindsay at BYU; the two married, spent three and a half years in San Francisco, and then did the thing most families only talk about — they packed up and traveled the world with a toddler in tow, from Japan and Bali to Thailand, Australia, the UAE, and across Europe.

A software developer by trade, Abe would rather be off the computer — surfing, fishing, or hiking with the kids. He writes the family-travel guides on Sunlight Kids: the honest, kid-tested "what do we actually do here with young kids" writing that comes from having been three hours into the flight, stuck at the restaurant table, and waiting out the witching hour in a hotel room himself.
