A reveal prop that is actually useful
Most reveal props get thrown away the same week. A luggage tag goes on the suitcase and stays there for the whole trip, which makes it one of the few reveal objects with a second life.
Giving a child a tag with their own name on it also does something small and good on travel day: it makes the bag theirs, and a child with their own bag is a child who is helping rather than being managed.
How to use them
Print on card stock if you have it, cut out a band, wrap it around the suitcase handle, and tape the shaded ends over each other. That is the whole job — no hole punch and no ribbon to go hunting for.
Hand them out as part of the reveal, or save them for the night before as a small second surprise.
A note on the contact line
The contact line is optional and we leave it blank by default. Anything you write there is visible to anyone who picks up the bag, so a phone number or an email is a safer choice than a home address, and a child's full name is best left off.

- A phone number or email is fine and useful if a bag goes missing. Skip the home address, and skip your child's last name — the tag is visible to everyone who handles the bag.
- Will these survive a trip?
- On card stock, yes. Running a strip of packing tape along both sides works about as well as laminating, and it also covers the join.
- Can I make tags without a destination?
- Yes. The destination only appears as a heading at the top of the sheet, never on the bands themselves, so the bands are safe to hand out even while the trip is still a secret.
